Clinical Bioengineering Service

Clinical bioengineering research through the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at Brigham and Women Hospital aims to make a significant contribution to improving human health.

Staff, residents, and fellows in the Clinical Bioengineering Service apply quantitative techniques to monitor, manage, and analyze clinical anesthesia. The clinical responsibilities of this unit are merged with research efforts aimed at optimizing monitoring and therapeutic modalities to provide state-of-the-art clinical care.

Residents undergo extensive training in clinical bioengineering through teaching at the bedside during the actual administration of anesthesia or during patient rounds. Learn more about our Residency opportunities.
